I love Angary boys it has me is stitches every week and I cant wait to see if Chris lilley makes a second season. Complain about this comment Comment number 5. I so very nearly gave up watching Angry Boys because some of the spoof, politically incorrect, stereotypical characters got all a bit too repititive, and also rather boring.
However, I'm now vey glad that I stuck with it as last night's episode six was undoubtedly one of the best in the series so far.
For beneath the surface of the blatantly obvious parody comedy, there quite often exists a rather sad and tragic undertone drama actually going on. I now recommend that you actually read television's critic, Charlotte Stear, excellent review of the show, as I simply couldn't put it any better myself.

Complain about this comment Comment number 8. Where Summer Heights High contained heart, nuance and characters you loved and pulled for while cringing at them at the same time this contains very little of that. Sad to say. I think this guy has shown flashes of genius, but in Angry Boys, Lilley seems to settle for shock value over strong and deep characters.
G--Angry Boys grabs a tiny laugh here and there and doesn't lead anywhere except towards base and juvenile. Maybe this is what Chris was going for, but I have to say that--he is capable of better than this. An unexpected winner scattiee-1 20 July I, like some other reviewers, stumbled upon this little diamond by accident. Although it is not a new format mockumentary Chris Lilly presents us with believable characters that we can learn to "love to cringe" with!
Great fun and with story-lines that usually interlink at some point. It is clever but with a splash of total silyness but stories that leave you wanting more. I feel I know the characters already and know this will run and run. Even though I am from the UK, I have met most of them in one form or another. Well done Chris! Pure dark humor. For those who are easily offended, please excuse yourself from viewing.
Crude, rude, absolutely hilarious! There have been great comedians who have been masters of disguise and costume,in order to make us laugh and laugh at ourselves. Robin Williams as 'Mrs. Unfortunately Chris Lilley doesn't fall in that category at all. I have a great sense of humor when it comes to sex, race, religion and all other stereotypes but there is a difference in teasing or making fun of something, compared to just straight out being degrading or offensive.
For example the Chris Lilley dressing in black face for the character called "s. The character is suppose to be a rapper who acts like a idiotic, fool, who one day decides to take a dump on a cop car to show how much of a gangster he really is.
The episode continues on where "nathan" deaf white twin of Daniel does the same thing. Playing on the premise that the s. Now I don't know anything about Australia but I know a minstrel show when I see one and what Chris Lilley is doing is a minstrel show. After the U. Whats next Chris Lilley? I got an idea, next season he should have his offensive character s.
And Nathan, Dan and their mom whom they live with, can call s. By the way, its not o k that Chris Lilley says the "n" word just because he's in black face. It seems to me Chris Lilley humor is about making light of second class citizens situation in the world which still exists today. The foolish character "s. And for the record, yes I am an African American with a very good sense of humor.
But I don't think Chris Lilley would find it humorous if others made the joke that his gene pool is from a prison colony. After initial disappointment I found this series to hit something above the normal. As the stories developed I realised I was not watching Lilley but watching entirely authentic characters.
He is a great actor, writer and commenter on society. The characters are like from a modern Ibsen play; good characters but not necessarily of good character.
The big success story of Summer Heights High was its only original character, Islander student Jonah. This shift is why reviewers are struggling with Angry Boys. As a comedy then, it has to be seen as a failure.
Well, not really.
