Why does dan patrick call espn the mothership

I would have liked to have seen Florio heed his own advice during the Mike Wise fiasco. ESPN does seem to be petty at times. Can they halt an interview that has nothing to do with ESPN? Seems absurd. His radio show is great, the pre game show Football Night in America needs work. Does Dick Ebersol send down these down verbatim or just provide an outline and you fill in the meat?

Get paid to read the internet and write a daily report to my employer on how much people hate it? Please tell me how to get a job like this. You are now writing articles that are nothing but naked shilling for your parent company. I am sure that you know, as everyone in the sports media knows, that it is ESPN policy to not allow their personalities to appear on radio shows that compete with ESPN radio. It has been that way for over a decade.

For you to write this as if it is news only now that they are saying no to Patrick is beyond dishonest. ESPN Sucks. Thank you NFL Network! I believe a couple of small countries in eastern Asia think he is god and worship statues of the guy. Patrick is boring and terrible on the radio.

Next time your at radio row for the super bowl check out how empty his audience is. Oh, and quit using arguably. For all those who say this site doesnt have Web cred—you better do more research. Funny thing is, people here try to come down on some of the stuff thats posted on here, how its written, etc.

That same stuff is what allows us to post ridiculous comments and funny replies, and allows us all the freedom to write whatever. Not to mention the fact this site has ridiculous web traffic and an increasing number of hits per month. You dont like it, theres always another place to go for news. How pretentious is that?

I am pretty sure ESPN talent is an oxymoron. Then there is that sad excuse of a morning radio with that whiny slight homo jewish boy who has an unnatural love of Mark Sanchez. Brett Favre pays them well to mention his name 10x per hour.

And to top it off they love to spin and story and run their opinions as fact. Remember the helmet to helmet hit story. They made it to be something completely different than what it really was.

Way to f up sports you Mickey Mouse loving bastards. The Mother Ship, as Dan sarcastically calls them, are so out of touch with the world of the sports fan that they get whatever they deserve.

Screw ESPN. I stopped watching Sportscenter a while ago. Could not say it any better than ghostrider did. And a note to anyone with the show — after having listened to it online today for two hours please, please change out the audio during commercial breaks. The show played the same Nolan Ryan bit every break today. Just put ads in the online breaks and for the love of God, kill off the indie music snippets. For a staff the size DP has on his show the execution and production value is woeful.

So here goes anyway. ESPN has completely lost its relevance to me as a male jock. It has become nothing except a parade of babbling, giggling, silly, clueless Gals attached to silly, comedic weak male reporters and opinionators. They can gobble up a good chunk of your day with drivelly female sports blather. And then in the afternoon segment, they toss out all of the gals to get to the real depth of subjects, with a condensed version of the First Take debates with the guys only.

And that show is remarkably better than the full program. They also have very low female viewership! Not from the giggling, wiggling Cheerleaders! I listen to the radio for what it was meant for and that is music! He has no show in Philadelphia. I hope you got money for this sponsored post. I agree with the poster above about the ESPN website. It takes too long to load a page when you want to see something.

I almost always go elsewhere for information including, but not limited to, Yahoo or Wikipedia. Frankly, I think they were better together. He does not have a flourishing career anymore. He is just there. Did ESPN light your resume on fire in front of you or something? Dan Patrick is a complete tool. I listen to commercials on ESPN rather than switching over to listen to him during commercial breaks. He is insulting and patronizing to his guests. He thinks he is so cute.

I have no idea what the ratings are, but if he is successful it baffles me to no end. So ESPN doesnt let their employed talent to go on his show. Why would they? Why would they want to help an competitor out? No reason for them to then allow a competitor use that knowledge it paid to develop. Nobody cares about what Dan or I went through because everyone has their world of problems. Enjoy our content? Join our newsletter to get the latest in sports news delivered straight to your inbox!

Patrick confirmed that he was asked by the producers of The Price is Right to audition for the vacant host position, but he declined.

The job eventually went to Drew Carey. Patrick said that he wanted to be on both television and radio again, although the newspapers reported that he only wanted to do radio. On his new show, Patrick often relates anecdotes of his ESPN career, in both positive and negative lights. He often refers to his former employer "The Mother Ship" and less frequently "ESPeon" and expressed disappointment with their practice of preventing their talent from appearing as guests on his show, and frustration when an ESPN employee has agreed to come on the show only to later cancel.

He named his final three shows the "Farewell for Now" tour. The last 20 minutes of his show were filled with thank-yous and looks back. Will Ferrell also made a heavily promoted appearance as his character Ron Burgundy from Anchorman. It was distributed nationally by Premiere Radio Networks.

The show aired live on most stations from 9 a. It was also available as a live stream and in podcast from via Patrick's website. This brought an additional 60 affiliates to Patrick's portfolio, and brought the total affiliate count to over The radio-only show had been produced in the attic of Patrick's home.
